Turkey
Turkey, What a country! My journey to Turkey began in its vibrant city of Istanbul. Having the honor of being on two continents, this city famous for its Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Spice Market and the maze of "everything stalls" called the Grand Bazaar, Istanbul is a city that promises to reach out and ignite your senses. A Bosphorus cruise, a Turkish bath or a Whirling Dervish performance all await you in this exotic and ancient city once known as Constantinople. Moving southeast, at sunrise we take a hot air balloon ride over the fairy-like chimneys in Cappadocia, abundant with its many rock churches unique in their wall paintings. The ancient city of Ephesus welcomes you warmly. Here, marvel at its well-preserved Roman ruins. As you enter the magnificent Amphitheatre, use your imagination and hear the apostle Paul as he speaks to the multitudes. Visit the house/chapel where the Virgin Mary is said to have lived her last days. Then moving north towards Istanbul, you can stop and marvel at Troy and its legendary Trojan horse. Vietnam
When I began my journey to Vietnam, I began in the southern city of Ho Chi Minh the former Saigon. Upon arrival into Ho Chi Minh, one can feel the driving pulse of this vibrant city when you first step off the plane or dis-embark your cruise ship. You immediately begin to feel the history and culture of the country take over your senses as you visit thistoric landmarks. Shopping is an art and the Cho Ben Thanh market will provide an opportunity to practice your world-class haggling skills. A cooking class is a culinary must and a Saigonese chef will be happy to oblige with a hands-on opportunity to cook Vietnamese delights. A cyclo ride through Old Hanoi is a must. Include a stop at the infamous Hoa Lo "Hanoi Hilton" prison for a brief lesson in that part of the Vietnam story. A day on a junk sailing Halong Bay will be one of the highlights of your total experience. Combine this with a trek into the countryside and Vietnam will become a place you will want to return to again and again.
